Well... Where to start. A few weeks ago, I bought a Volvo from a dealership based in Elst. I bought it for the purpose of exporting it to France. (Btw, this isn't the first time I am doing this, as I own a company that buys and exports Volvo cars.) Yesterday, my client went to pick up the car and needed white temporary plates to bring the car to France, as well as export papers. NO INSURANCE WAS NEEDED because he already had one from his own insurance, based on the VIN number. When my client and the salesman went to General Auto to do the paperwork, he was forced by someone (I guess the owner) to buy insurance. He refused, then called me to explain the situation. On the phone, I got an angry man who tried to use my client’s situation to make money from him. I tried to explain to him that no insurance was needed because HE ALREADY HAD ONE, but the only answer I got was : "we don't need your business, this is how we work. If you are not happy, go somewhere else" What’s funny is that there is another review from a French buyer who dealt with the exact same situation with you. I don't know what French people did to you, but there is clearly a pattern here. Anyway, this isn't my first time buying a car in NL. I work with Dutch people every day in the automotive field, and I even called an RDW station to check whether I was wrong or not. THE INSURANCE WAS NOT NEEDED. What you did was not right, not fair, and totally unjustified. And the way you treated my client — even at the end, with no handshake — shows that you only care about money. You can argue that I am the problem here, but another comment from a French buyer speaks for itself. Best of luck.

A mechanic at RDW highly recommend General Auto to me following my move from the UK. General Auto replaced my headlights to European ones and also replaced one rear fog light to the correct side. They were very open and transparent with the cost of parts and labor, explained the options available, made sure I understood what I needed to do to complete registration in the Netherlands, and in all have taken a lot of the stress out of this move. I would definitely recommend their services as not only did they do a quick professional job, but they are also very friendly guys.
