I found this garage through word of mouth. What a relief!! Honesty, friendliness, and craftsmanship are the first things that come to mind when I have to say something about this garage. Since I started going to Garage van Wijk, my car has been driving like a dream! Friendly and professional guys who know their trade (more than!)! They're very helpful, clearly explain what they're doing and why, are honest about the costs, and the icing on the cake is delicious coffee 😜, so the wait isn't a punishment. Fantastic!

May 23, 2024. For us, never again Garage van Wijk... We took our campervan to Garage van Wijk in Alphen aan den Rijn on May 3rd for an MOT and maintenance. The campervan failed its inspection. We requested a quote, which was €2,300. Our campervan wasn't ready until May 21st. Because the radiator was leaking, the bill rose to €3,100. The quote also included payment within 14 days with a corresponding payment number. We assumed that was the agreement we were entering into and agreed to it. To our surprise, we were told on Friday, when the campervan was ready, that we had to pay the full amount or we wouldn't be able to take it home. We disagreed. We had paid €2,000 and wanted to pay the rest by credit card, but they wouldn't accept it. Despite our substantial down payment, we couldn't take the campervan home before Pentecost. We're having a disagreement about that. Last Tuesday after Pentecost, we picked up the campervan and paid the last €1,100 in cash. When I turned on the ignition, I noticed an indication that there was too much oil in it. The oil level was up to the oil filler spring. The garage owner's staff then sucked out 1.5 liters of oil. If I had driven away with the campervan, the engine would have blown up very quickly. Make clear agreements with this garage owner, otherwise you might be faced with unexpected surprises. Communication wasn't clear. We are considering taking action. There are some really bad people in this world. Arnoud van Wijk, the garage owner, was a former friend of Corry's.

NEVER have your car repaired here!!!!! If I couldn't give you a star rating, I would. I'm not a no-win, no-fee company. This gentleman emails me when he claims to have repaired my car (can you show me the email stating that?). The repair (though not completely fixed) cost me €3,000. When I point this out, the owner laughs and then says, "So what?!?!?!" Various suggestions I made for a solution are ignored, and I don't even receive a counter-offer. It's no wonder the owner is called a "bloody braggart, talker, and idiot" by several garage owners in the area... given my experience, that's absolutely true! He says he'll call back every time he calls, and then literally never does. If you do call back yourself, it's not appreciated. I really regret that I ended up here through the ANWB... And before I forget: the next garage I took my car to discovered that certain things hadn't been secured and a protective cover on the wiring was missing... how unprofessional! I have photos of this for anyone interested.

My diesel campervan had quite a few problems, including the EGR valve. I had the intake system cleaned by Garage van Wijk with a kind of foam. (This method is unique in the Netherlands.) Since then, it's been running like a dream again. Highly recommended. It's just fun to look at all the beautiful cars. See the photo.
